On Friday 4th March 2022, Destiny school of dance opened its doors for the first time.
We had just six dancers join us on our first day. Three mini students and three junior students.
Did you know that out of those six students, two of them are currently still with us? Can you guess who they are?
Senior dancers Malaika and U'raiya have been with DSOD for three years today! What an achievement!!! They are both still going strong and are currently training hard for their very first street dance & lyrical championships happening across the last weekend of March.
I'm thrilled with the direction that DSOD is heading in and trust me when I say, we have only just begun.. I have so many big plans up my sleeve and in time, all will be revealed..
Slow and steady wins the race so I am constantly reminding myself that this journey is a marathon and not a sprint.
We have grown from six students to 42 students across all of our DSOD classes and are currently trialing 3 new students for the four weeks. Not forgetting our after school clubs, school workshops, wedding first dance lessons and most recently our Destiny Dance Parties!
Our first party is booked and in the diary for August this year!
As we continue to grow, so will my passion, perseverance and purpose for the art form that has been my life since 1985 at the tender age of just 4 years old.
By the end of this year, many of our street dancers would have completed their NATD street dance exams in hip hop. They are all working so hard in class!
I am so excited for the future with DSOD and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my amazing dancers and their families for continuing to choose DSOD and making it the fun and friendly community school that we are today.
We will look to expand our staff team in 2026 to jump on board with Glenroy and Lilly to help continue to bring our plans and visions to life.
We are because of each one of you so thank you.
The best is yet to come..
